The Public Library and French Institute
The big, public library in Kigali has an inviting kids’ room and I believe still hosts a story hour for the little ones, but do check the schedule as things may have changed. The French Institute sometimes shows kids’ movies there on a Wednesday afternoon, if your children happen to speak French.

Niyo Art Galery
Niyo Arts gallery, is a collection of Rwandan creative artists and also hosts different artists from the region. They provide space for 7 artists in residence to explore their creative talents. contemporary African art works, Music and Dance going with Drumming. its initiative of NIYONSENGA Pacifique the founder of the Niyo Cultural Centre dedicated to improving the lives of street children.

Nyamirambo Women’s Center
Across the street from the production studios and the shop, NWC founded a community library that offers books in Kinyarwanda, English and French. With some adult books but mostly children’s books, the idea behind the library is to encourage reading among the youth in Rwanda and to promote the idea of “one child, one book”. The library is open to all and offers free afternoon programming for children 4 days of the week, with sessions including individual reading, cartooning, craft-making, games, dance lessons, and storytelling activities.

Goethe Institute
The Goethe-Institute is a German initiative that runs in several countries around the world. They hold all sorts of events from live music to weekly movies. Follow them on Facebook for regular updates. Events tend to be focused on adults but sometimes they have kid-friendly acts come through, most recently, a magician.
