5 Easy Smoothie Recipes for Kigali

Here are five seriously easy smoothie recipes that use ingredients locally available in Kigali. If you don't have one already, you can find a good blender at many shops around town, including Simba Supermarkets. 

Tip: You can add more milk, about ¼ cup at a time, until desired consistency is reached. 

Dairy free: Use coconut milk and leave out the yogurt and milk. 


Simple Banana

Add 3-5 small bananas, or 1-2 big bananas to blender. Add a dash of ground cinnamon and a tablespoon of sugar. Then pour in a cup of whole milk and and add a few ice cubes. Blend until smooth. 


Pineapple & Banana 

Add pineapple, banana, yogurt and ice to blender. Add 1 cup of whole milk. Pulse until mixture is smooth. 


Watermelon, Mango, Avocado & Banana

A more extravagant choice but a great dairy free option. Cut watermelon into 1 inch cubes until you have a large handful. Cut 1 mango into cubes. Add 1 large banana and half of a large avocado, mashed. Blend until smooth. Add some ice cubes to achieve a lighter consistency. 


Mango & Honey

Chop a ripe mango. Add this and half a cup of milk and some ice cubes to the blender. Add 1/4 of a cup of plain yogurt along with 1-2 tablespoons of honey. Blend until smooth. 


Banana & Passionfruit

Add 2 large bananas to the blender, along with 1 cup of natural yogurt. Then add 2 scoops of Vanilla ice cream and a dash of Vanilla Extract if you have some. Then add 1 passionfruit (the inside) and blend until smooth.
