A relatively new gym located in Gacuriro, with good equipment imported from the US. It’s spacious, set over two floors, and nicely lit. There are a variety of programs on offer, including weight loss, strength training, crossfit and calisthenics. Personal training is also available.
A 3 month membership is Rwf 105,000, but there are often discounts on so check out their Facebook page if you are interested.

The Fitness Factory

Fitness Factory is located near Kanserege, on the top floor of the New Market Building. It has a good variety of equipment (including a rowing machine) and is cheaper than many of the other gyms listed here. Whilst situated in a busy area of town, it’s a pleasant, affordable option for those living near it.

Manor Hotel

This gym is located in Manor Hotel, Nyarutarama. The gym offers pulse cardio, a good variety of new gym equipment, including free weights and a plate loaded zone. There are also some fitness classes on offer. New members get a complimentary fitness consultation with a personal trainer and receive a personalised fitness plan.
The gym is located in the basement. However, it offers reasonable prices that include use of the pool and free parking. Prices are currently listed at Rwf 4,000 per day, Rwf 35,000 per month, Rwf 200,000 for six months and Rwf 380,000 per year.

Umubano Hotel

Umubano Hotel is located on Boulevard de l'Umuganda, opposite the Swedish Embassy and just a short distance from Kigali Heights. The gym has a similar feel to the one in Manor Hotel, although it’s more popular. Use of the pool is not included in the price, but use of the sauna is. It’s less spacious than some of the other gyms listed here, but is also cheaper. It should be noted that Umubano Hotel have stopped members bringing their own water.
Prices are currently listed at Rwf 6,000 per day or Rwf 100,000 per year. There is a Rwf 4,000 fee for classes.

Serena Hotel

Whilst being a fairly small space, the gym at the Serena Hotel is a luxurious experience. There’s great equipment, a free weights zone, and brilliant changing rooms. The annual fee is US$1,700, which includes use of the pool. If you are considering it, the Serena Hotel is located on KN 3 Avenue in Nyarugenge.

SOHO fitness is a new health and fitness club in Kicukiro, Kigali. There is a gym, group classes, a full boxing facility and hot yoga. SOHO Fitness’ mission is to offer a variety of group classes that can challenge you physically and mentally, taking your fitness goals to the next level.
There are different membership categories ranging from 1 to 12 months, depending on whether you want the gym only, or yoga too. Duos (2 people), Families (4 people), and Groups (10 or people) receive discounted rates. There is also a 10% Kids promotion and a student discount available.
To follow your workout, there is a cafe on the rooftop.

WAKA Fitness, in Kimihurura, is a popular choice considering the experience and price. Not only does it look snazzy with a great vibe, it’s spacious, light and airy. There are a large variety of classes on offer, and personal training is also available. What’s more, it’s starting to develop a great fitness community, with yearly events such as WAKA warrior race but also a weekly running club on Monday evenings. Most excitingly, they’ve recently begun WAKA Mommy & Me fitness, an eight week post-pregnancy course to help new moms reconnect with their bodies whilst also connecting with their new baby.
Another great thing about WAKA is the transparent pricing with a number of membership options. WAKA Flex, Rwf 40,000 per month, is for those wanting to work out in the morning, noon or late evening and only want access to the facility. WAKA Punch, is for those that want a flexible membership, giving you 5 visits for Rwf 30,000. WAKA All Access, Rwf 60,000 per month and Rwf 500,000 per year, is for those that want it all, including classes. There are discounts for companies and for friends who sign up as a group.
